EmpowerU - Resilience, Persistence, Success (HGE1191B)

Help Students Feel Better and Do Better – In School and Life! An Elective Course to Help Improve Student Mental Health, Motivation, and Social Connections. North Dakota Center for Distance Education (NDCDE) is excited to partner with EmpowerU to deliver a proven, data-driven, and credit-bearing course that helps students learn the skills they need to overcome non-academic barriers to success like anxiety, low mood, loneliness, and unhealthy distractions (like screen time).

A Proven Program to Boost Adolescent Mental Health & Wellbeing: EmpowerU works with students across the country to support mental health and motivation.
The program is:

  • Easy to use: The course is self-paced and accessible to all.
  • Supported by a 1:1 online instructor: Each coach has a background in mental health and expertise in student resilience.

Many NDCDE middle and high school students who have completed EmpowerU have increased their moods, improved friendships, and raised their academic performance. All NDCDE students who have taken the course say it is helpful to their wellbeing and confidence and ninety-nine percent would recommend it to a friend.

The high school course functions as a high school MTSS mental health semester intervention for students who need additional support. Students receive personalized coaching from their 1:1 EmpowerU instructor daily. Final pre- and post-data are reported for each participating student.
